Fiddler on th Roof

The movie starts with a man telling about his village and that there is a lot of tradition in there way of life. A family is in there home, preparing for the sabbath, and the "matchmaker" is on her way. The daughter says she hopes there is a better match then the last one, and the mother makes the point that a husband is better than no husband no matter what. The oldest daughter isnt really looking for a match, but the two young ones really want a good man. They cant get married until the oldest one gets married, and the matchmaker hasnt found any but old men that she's not interested in. Then a man had gotten his paper and is screaming about what was in the paper. The paper had news of another jewish village somewhere else in Russia that had made them leave there homes. The oldest daughter has a friend and the secretly want to be together and she convinces him to talk to his father. The father meets a man who will teach his daughters exchange for food. The butchers son then offers the oldest daughters hand in marrage and the oldest daughter has her second thoughts. She tells her father that she does not want to marry him and he agrees he wont force her to marry him. Now the poor tailor has the courage to ask her father for his oldest daughters hand in marrage and he is mad. Eventually, the father accepts and alows them to marry. The poor tailor comes through with his promice and eventually gets his sewing machine. The two younger daughters both fall in love and one of them move to Siberia. The family eventually moves to America.
